Field-related Website Screencast

What should I do to in case of an emergency?

Introduction

Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca.
For those who don't know yet, I'm a student in Prehospital Emergency Care. This program serves to future paramedic and teaches essential emergency care.

In my program, we have to learn many techniques to be able to save lives. We have multiple classes for the different health problem, and that's what makes us such good paramedics.

The problem is that some health problem are rarer than others, and not everyone has knowledge on how to deal with emergencies.

I have been studying in this program for 3 years and successfully completed all of my classes.

My goal with this screencast is to show you an English website that demonstrates basic techniques for emergencies. It can be used by anyone who needs to know how to deal with certain situations, and for medical professionals who need a reminder.

Get ready to follow my tutorial to use this useful website.

It is actually surprising what you can do on this website.

The Problem

As I previously said, there are some rarer health problems that we unfortunately don't have time to master at school. Also, not everyone is taught life-saving techniques.

If you're on a call, or even just enjoying a night out with friends or family, and you don't know what to do in a situation, it could cost the life of a person.

For example, imagine you're at the beach with your friends, and someone starts shouting that they need a medical professional. Even if you had training for medical emergencies or not, in stressful situations, you might forget or panic and act inappropriately for the situation.

It can be hard to know what to do when you're caught off guard. However, I have found the solution to stay calm and get the right information to do the right thing to save the person in need. Let me show you.

The Quest

First, open your browser.
Type this URL : https://www.msdmanuals.com/ in the address bar and hit enter.
If you typed the URL correctly, you will see this page.

In the middle, you will see three different sections.
The professional version will lead you to a more advanced page where you can find all the health problems explained thoroughly. It's made for medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, etc.
The consumer version will lead to a page where you can find various information about health problems, that are explained so that everyone can understand. It's made for the public. This it the one that we will use today.
The veterinary manual is made for the veterinary professional and student. In this context, we will never use this option.

The Solution

Now that we are in the consumer version of the manual, we can find various information about many health problems. Today, we will go in the navigation menu, where we will find the icon for emergencies. Once we get there, we have access to all the information to save someone's life. You can scroll down, or click on the many icons to find different information.
If you still don't find what you're looking for, you can always click on the icon right there to search in all the website.
For example, if I write : "chest pain" in the text area that appears, I will find results for every article that mentions chest pain.
You can always go back to the different pages you already saw by clicking the back arrow.

The Conclusion

So, the next time that you need quick information on a health problem, be sure to use this website to get all the correct information.
As I said, and showed you, this website can be used by everyone. However, in case of an emergency, don't forget to call 911 to get help quickly.
